WOLF expands distribution into Ohio and Tennessee
News from York Daily Record:

WOLF expanded its service area for kitchen and bath products to include Ohio and parts of Tennessee, increasing the number of states served by the York-based building supply distributor to 19.

The company is the largest supplier of kitchen cabinets in the United States and the leading provider of composite and PVC decking, railing, trimboards and other building materials.

Dealers will gain access to WOLF’s range of kitchen and bath products, including WOLF Classic Cabinets, Bath Furniture, Vanity Tops and more. The company will offer regular delivery to independent dealers in this new service area.

Starting June 1, WOLF logistics will begin filling orders to dealers in a region that includes Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus, Ohio, and eastern and central Tennessee.

WOLF’s expansion is part of a broad strategic shift that began in 2010. The company, once a traditional two-step distributor, has positioned itself as a sourcing company that focuses on identifying or developing products designed solely to meet the needs of independent dealers.

Designer of the Thick Chair emphasizes function through design
News from San Francisco Chronicle:

The Thick Chair, designed by San Franciso’s Justin Godar, features legs that rise all the way to the arm for added strength and features a floating back.

Justin Godar targets function in his furniture design, creating custom pieces that are useful first, but also beautiful.

The San Francisco-based craftsman and inventor imagines and makes everything from coffee tables and walnut slab dining tables to bath vanities, kitchen cabinets, cubicles and, featured here, the Thick Chair, a curvaceous, thick wood arm chair with a padded leather seat.

“What I wanted was legs that rise all the way to the arm, which adds to the overall strength of the chair, and a floating back,” said Godar. “It needed to be comfortable, but not La-Z-Boy comfortable. It needed to be sexy but not trashy.”

Inspired by a vintage Wegner chair left behind for reupholstering in his Quesada Avenue studio, the Thick Chair has tapered legs that look light, the designer says, and a leather cushion treated with oil and wax for silky softness to the touch.
