Q. What lifestyle trends are you seeing?A. People are cooking at home more and becoming more adventurous. Food Network and restaurants have spurred them on to learn new techniques. For example, we’re going to hold a class on how to smoke meats and cheeses indoors. We’re doing canning classes and sausage making. And more people are giving food as gifts.Q. What are some of the things you help customers with when it comes to cooking?A. People often say, ‘This is sticking to the pan,’ or they say, ‘My pan looks cloudy. Is that from age?’ I tell them the problem is your (stainless steel) pan needs to be sparkling before you heat it on the stove. Use Bar Keepers Friend to clean it. Use quality cookware and bakeware. I think people are done with the cheap stuff that’s not going to last. I also tell people to sharpen knives each time they use them.Q.
