Want to update the look of your cabinets without breaking the bank?

DIY guru Meredith Jones explained on Good Day Alabama today how to glaze your existing cabinets to make them look fresh. She says you can glaze all of your kitchen cabinets for less than $ 100.

Jones says the technique can give boring cabinets a little bit of definition and interest. She demonstrated two styles, glazing just the crevices of the cabinet and glazing the whole cabinet, to give two different effects.

“This is not a perfectionist technique. It really is all about, do you like the way it looks, and continue working with it until you do,” she said.

Follow her steps below:

Materials needed:

1. Paint in whatever color you want – you can use oil or latex but whichever type you choose, you must also use an oil or latex based glaze

2. Glaze

3. Measuring cup

4. Container to mix paint

5. Paint brushes or sponges

6. Clear coat – spray or paint on


1. Pre-paint the cabinetry a solid color or simply glaze over the existing wood
