LUCKNOW: Dhanteras saw a shift in people’s preference with most showing interest in buying modern kitchen appliances like microwaves, air-fryers, higher end TV and Smartphone models, fully automatic washing machines and frost-free refrigerators rather than spending on traditional items like gold jewellery, diamond, utensils and vehicles.

Among TV panels, LED ruled the roost with most pre-bookings and sales happening in the segment. A store manager in Samsung Plaza said “this Dhanteras, people are spending more on luxury and convenience.

The turnout is overwhelming in home appliances segment with most preferring to buy higher end models. About 80% demand is for LED compared to other panels.”

The newly launched curved LEDs which start from Rs 2 lakh have also fetched a good number of buyers. “Because of a Sunday preceding the festival, we have already sold 12 LED panels. On Dhanteras, we hope to sell at least 20 more panels”, he adds amidst hectic buying even as midnight approaches. Other retail outlets also confirmed that LED sale outperformed older versions.A distributor of Panasonic TV panels said “we hope to sell around 1,000 panels in Lucknow during Dhanteras. J.K. Adams Co., a Vermont-based manufacturer and e-retailer that sells kitchenware, baking, home entertainment and related products to other retailers and consumers, has recently competed a site redesign that could ease buying for businesses.

The redesign cost just more than $ 40,000 and took six months, says Jon Blatchford, CEO of the 70-year-old company. He says J.K. Adams used Vermont-based Skillet Design & Marketing for the site’s graphic design and Montana-based JTech Communications for web site development.

J.K. Adams earns 95% of its sales from B2B customers, Blatchford says. He adds that the company’s total sales have grown “just under 10% in the last two years.” He would not disclose the company’s revenue.
